I always wanted black sand but never wanted to spend so much money on it as opposed to $5 pool filter sand.
I finally did it and wow does it make a difference. It's been about a month since I did the change and the polys are not stressed any more so this is their new color.
Way more definition in person I couldn't even tell its the same fish.
I say to anyone considering it to go for it!

my two polys dont mind the pool filter sand, though they have driftwood and a planted tank so the hiding spots are pretty prevelant.

The polys didnt mind the pool fikteer but I noticed It washed them out. Oh man you have no idea how bad I wanted red but couldn't seem to find it anywhere with high shipping costs.
And I guess I made the right choice. Lower jaws dont pop as much on black sand?

Correct lower jaws are ugly on black sand they r just dull almost to the point where u can't see most of their patterns u need red sand for ljs ... Upper jaws r the opposite the look great on black not red
