What is a good filter for a 90 gallon stocked with a couple medium sized cichlids? Water change is bi weekly 45-50%. Current filter is a AC 110. Was thinking of switching to a canister and was looking for a recommendation.

I would get a Eheim 2217.

And they are not that hard to clean. They have quick disconnect hoses. So take those off, drain it, have a bucket for the media, clean or replace the pad on top, put it back together, put it back on the tank, you're done. Takes about 10 minutes every 4 to 6 months.

The fluval will work well for you. Not to hard to maintain. I know friends that used the sunsun canister filter on ebay. And they are happy with them

Imo whichever u go with use the media from old filter and place in the new one to keep the bb. Or use 2 filters until tank os cycled

I run an AC110 and a Fluval 406 on each of my 90 gallon tanks and the water is spotless. I really like my 406's they do a great job and are very easy to maintain.

I'd say go fx5 or 6 as well. Love mine.
