Sorry I did not include all the unknown species such as the polypterus sp. "koliba", polypterus sp. "dabola", polypterus sp. cf. "congicus" etc etc. They are not yet discribe and no full scientific name yet. Till more studies and made so they can be place in their own respected species or subspecies.

Base on the 2010 research of Suzuki, D., M.C. Brandley and M. Tokita, the combining of former Polypterus bichir bichir and former Polypterus bichir lapradei as a single species now call, Polypterus bichir. So that PBB and PBL we know just actually synonyms of Polypterus bichirs. Also combining Polypterus palmas palmas and Polypterus palmas beutikofferi as just Polypterus palmas and separating Polypterus palmas polli as a species of it's own now called Polypterus polli. Another separation between former Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri and Polypterus endlicheri congiscus to each of their own species, as Polypterus endlicheri is actually a lot closer to Polypterus ansorgii, while Polypterus congicus is much more closer to Polypterus bichir. So I guest when Poll, discoverer a bichir in Katangae and placed it with the bichir complex and called it Polypterus bichir katangae, I guest he was right. However Polypterus bichir katangae is now a synonym of Polypterus congicus. This study was base mitochondrial phylogeny of an ancient lineage of ray-finned fishes (Polypteridae) with implications for the evolution of body elongation, pelvic fin loss, and craniofacial morphology in Osteichthyes research.
