I got two endliis during the summer around 2.5" each in size. This one in question is growing at a slower rate than the other. I've seen other captive breed deformities before such bodies twisting sideways or even at two locations on a single poly. I don't think it broke its back at any given time because I've babied these bichirs daily and seen the arch on the back change progressively. What do u guys think? I know it's a deformity but is it a semi short body?

This is what they classify as a 'semi short body' right? He's next to the endli that he grew up with as babies. What do u guys think ?

Ya it does have a slight curve on the back. It definately stunted the growing process due to this defect. His buddy is so much bigger from the same batch. Don't lots of semi short body have this kind of defect anyways? Just asking because a super short body has has no back, lol

Honestly, I don't know what constitutes semi short body & I don't think there is an official definition. Yes, stunted and deformed (arched) backs are often classified as such. I've seen this term used loosely to increase price or to make it seem rarer than it really is. The hunch back FOR ME is a prerequisite for it to be called semi short body..... because after all.... semi short body, short body, & super short body are deformities. I've seen 16" endlis be called semi short because they have huge hunchbacks, have the semi short body look, and are extremely thick. So from what I have kept and seen.... semi short body doesn't have to be under a particular size to be considered semi short body.
