We are planning to get a medium-sized dog next year and I've been searching a lot. So I just want to know what do you guys think is best for a small house, we just live in a subdivision so we doesn't have any space (only 100 square ft).
So what do you guys think the best dog for us? I have a 5 year-old sister so it's have to be safe with children, though I will supervise when they play together. I really want to get a labrador but my mom is afraid of big and tall dogs so it's out of the picture.

Here's what I have in mind:

Beagle
French Bulldog
Pug
English Bulldog (It's hard to find and can be a little pricey though)

I also need a dog that's not very pricey. I'm in college so my budget is not that high :)

based on your property limitations i would go with a pug
just because it will be smaller and needs less room to run.
i have a blue tick beagle and he is awesome, but i also have
2 acres for him to run around

I can walk the dog an hour every morning. Is beagle really out of the choices? I can go with pud too but it's a bit hard to find a reputable breeder of a pud here. Thank you for the reply

walking is one thing and thats fine, but dogs need to get tired out
and space to run around. if the dog does not really go out but only
for walks then he will be active in the house and possible chew/eat
things. the biggest thing people do not realize that when dogs
misbehave its usually because of attention and not being tired out.
when my kids do not play with the dog he becomes very restless
and starts running around the house. i have to take him out back
and play with him for like 20 min and when he comes back in he will
just lay down or sit with us. Mind you he is fully trained and a great
dog. i never have to walk him on a leash,he always listens to me and
is extremely obedient but he still needs his exercise to release his energy.
a walk alone is just not enough.

all dogs are different but i have had to give away 2 dogs,
first dog was when i lived in NY. she was the nicest pitbull
anyone could see. i mean if you robbed my house she would have
licked your hand while you did it. lol. unfortunately i had to give her
to a friend b/c in NY they passed a law and my house insurance went
up $3000 a year and i just could not swing that. my second dog was
a jug(pug/jack russel) but she needed constant attention so when my
wife started working she would pee all over the house. i mean i would
take her for a walk and she would pee then when we got back if i walked
away from her she would pee b/c she was not getting attention. i gave
her to my neighbor who is a stay at home mom and she has not peed
once in the house.
Now i have my beagle and he is the best. when we go on vacation we have
a friend come by for a few hrs a day, to this day(its been 2 yrs) he has not
peed in the house once out of spite.
i would love to have my pit back
but that was long ago.

I see. So it's better for me to get a smaller dog, right? like the pug or the french bulldog. I can play with him but not always maybe a 20-30 min. play once or twice a day

Pug, is the best option but being brachycephalic they can have a lot of health issues. Beagles are good if you live in the country or are active other wise they can be highly annoying. Especially if you live in a small apartment type place. Beagles are hounds and can be ridiculously loud. I'd try going to a shelter and seeing if they have any older small to medium mixed breeds that would be good with kids.

The problem is my city is kinda small so we don't have any dog shelter in here and I can't go to another city just to take a dog because we don't have a vehicle of our own. I think i'm gonna go with the pug or is a french bulldog okay with a small house too?

English and French bulldogs are expensive as hell due to 99% of females need c-sections to deliver the pups. Plus they tend to have breathing issues esp. in hot and humid climates like the Phillipenes. Same thing with Pugs.

Beagles will make your neighbors hate you with the baying and what not. And the only way to stop a beagle or any hound from baying is using a bark collar on it.

I would personally head down to the animal shelter and look for that special dog/puppy and not limit your choice by breed and look for Mr/Mrs. Right.
