I'm new to fishing here in Southern California, the Los Angeles area to be specific, but I have plenty of experience fishing in South America in places such as the Brazilian pantanal. I've been to a few tackle shops and when I ask the owners for advice on places for a beginner to fish they rudely tell me to check google, so I've given up on tackle shop owners.
Can anyone recommend me a good setup to catch bluegill, crappie, etc. and a place near Los Angeles wear I can easily catch a few and get the hang of things.
