Hey guys, wanted to ask what your favourite background colour and substrate colour is, to best show off your black tiger Oscars.

I'm 99% sure I'm painting the back of my aquarium matt black, and deinitely going the sand route, I'm just going back and forth between black sand, or a tan/natural coloured sand.

My Oscar is in an acrylic tank that has a black backgound. Mine is a Bumblbee from Rapp's and he suggested a light substrate to get the stripes to pop more. So I use a course light sand that is a building type called 'Lapis Lustre'.

That looks good! Might be on the fine side. The stuff I use is more golden/tan.

Its super easy to gravel vac because the grain size is a bit larger and does not get sucked up the tube as easily as finer stuff.

Thank you!

You can see my black background and the light sand in the pics. Like I said Rapp's is the one to recommend the light substrate when it comes to the bumblebee. Not sure how a tiger would look on it.

Nice tank Nigel :)

I think I'll avoid the black sand, try the lighter stuff. Avoiding white sand like the plague, would look too marine like for me, plus dirt from Oscars would probably show far too easily.
