Hey guys I have a 260gal tank dimensions are 84"x30"x24" and it was lit using a 3ft and a 4ft fluorescent tube but they have both died in quick succession of each other so it's currently unlit I was thinking of changing my lighting as it wasn't too well lit before I was looking at exterior halogen lighting as it is cheap and they are strong lights I was looking at something like this http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-120W-Halogen-Floodlight-Black/p/702856
If this is not okay any other ideas?

It will really depend on what your intentions are for the tank. Ie:

Planted?
Predatory fish?
Community?

Then we can give you all sorts of opinions :)

halogens get real hot and a splash of water may shatter them into your tank. Try and find 2 4 foot 3 bulb t8 fixtures they are bright and you can but bulbs cheap at Home Depot.

I agree.

Shop lights will be your cheapest option.

Plus if you hang them you can adjust the brightness with the height.

And I think your fish will appreciate not having halogens :)
