I picked up the tank setup and Hystrix pair from PeteLockwood about a year ago. In the full tank shot you can see the other inhabitants, including a flagtail trio and high quality Red Texas I've bred. Also, you can see the tank has about a dozen holes in the back. I believe it was for an elaborate closed loop reef system. I plugged all holes except four (more on that later). The tank is the centerpiece of my home and the reason I can invite girls to my home on the first date to "see my stingrays."

This is the female, quite larger than the male. She is a voracious eater, and does this funny trick of attacking anyone near the food before eating some herself. She is the boss of the tank, and has yet to let the male get it done. She's just too beastly.

Here's the male. What he lacks in size, he makes up in good looks. Stunning pattern! But he's certainly not afraid of women. For a while he was getting too rowdy, and I could hear the wrestling after I went to bed. It got so bad I was worried about her health and debated separating them. Luckily I added bunch of tank mates, including a juvie female motoro. He's chilled out since then, but still struts around

Filtration is very effective and tank is always spotless. 2 of the drilled holes run the fx5 that's hard plumbed. And 2 other holes are the return from the sump of pot scrubbies. My one complaint is that the overflows take up so much floor space on the tank. Luckily I utilize some of that space with a big bush of pothos.

Very Nice :) I've heard that Hystrix are challenging to keep, hope they breed for you.:)

The stingray line has been surprisingly successful. Just the right blend of humor and innocent nerdiness to feed their genuine curiosity.

Nice setup, it is a rare club to be in if you can breed those bad boys. Look forward to that thread one day.
