So I found a hell of a deal on craigslist for a 125 gallon tru-vu acrylic tank with stand, heaters, 802 powerheads, tops for $100. I jumped on it and want to refinish it. I bought a 5" orbital sander from Harbor freight but am having a hard time to find 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper to sand out the scratches. I found one body shop that was selling it but it was in box of 50 which I don't need that much.

Anyone know where to purchase the round 5" disc online? Thanks in advance.

My question is can I get away with a 1500 grit wet sanding the scratches and polishing it afterwards? Or would I need to do 1000 git then 1500? The scratches on the tank are not bad.

Only you can answer that as we can't see the tank. 1000 and 1500 will not really remove scratches that well, they are to remove the scratches from the course of sand paper before them. For example you would use the 1500 to take out the scratches that the 1000 or 1200 make. If it's not that bad you could try Novus 123 polish first, when the tank is full of water a lot of scratches disappear.
