Redtail Catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redtail_catfish

this version in my aquarium is an "Albino Shortbody Redtail Catfish", after a close obersavtion I presume it size to be around 16"-17" in length. I raised it from 3" about 10 months ago without knowing that it is a shortbody (or to be so clean of an Albino as it appear to be).

Diet based mostly on Frozen Shrimps and medium size ships. With some extra diet such as sinking pellets from Hikari (Carnivore version)

Aquarium: 157" x 36" x 48" with 120" x 32" x 17" bottom filtration

Wow - so those barbs are 17 inches too ? Do you mean cm?

Interesting fish.
yes indeed... some of those Shortbody Barbs are well over 17 inches...
(have a look at the Redtail Catfish size in comparison with the rest of the tank and you shall have an idea)

What a tank!

I've never seen a Tinfoil (Normal, much less a shortbody) grow past 10 inches. Do you have a way to show the size of them?

What size tank is that?

to put thing in perspective... the Arowana is about 18"-19", Flagtail about 15", average Clown Loach about 9"
this tank is 157" x 36" x 48" (L x W x H)

14" of growth in 10 months sounds like a normal RTC growth rate. Do you mean cm? Either way everything looks great!

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app
it is in fact in inches... i am not sure how fast are these growing rate meant, but another normal Redtail I had earlier out grow the tank with the same period. With the amount of food these guy eat.. i suspect it to be at least twice as big now
