I'm thinking about upgrading to a 6 foot 140 gallon 72 x 24 x 18. Im currently using a fluval 406 on oine of my other tanks and like it. Was thinking of using 2 FX6 on the new tank as I'm worrried that the turnover wouldnt be enough with only one.

Im planning to stock it with some large central american cichlids and some syndontis catfish, exact stock yet to be determined so the bio load will be quite high. Unfortunately I wont have room for a sump so canister filters are the only way for me to go.

Can anyone give me any adivce?

Thanks

one fx6 is good for up to 400 gallons...I have one and a 75 gallon HOB on my 150 and that water is perfect.
two fx6's would work fine, that water would be ultra polished depending on the media inside the canisters, but I wouldn't say its completely neccessary.

I have 2 FX5's on a 7ft 265g. Not overstocked, but full enough. You cant over filter a large cichlid tank, but 2 on a 140 may not be necessary. 1 with an AC110 for mechanical support would work well. Careful with your stocking plans, 140g is not enough for "some" large CA's and cats.
