Hope ya'll have monster tanks. I had to get rid of mine within 18 months of having him when he outgrew my 190(I got him at 3 inches and was 23 inches on the 18th month).

That aside, They are great fish. If I ever get a tank over 500 gallons I'm going to consider getting another one.

Enjoy them..

Mine has some weight to put on. Everyone's are thick. I'm hoping I'll get to see him eat unlike the rest of the catfish in my tank. He hasn't moved since he found his hiding spot.

So what do these guys go for? I saw a 5.5" on ebay for $95 (free shipping). I paid $59 for this 11", I'm assuming it's a good deal.

I have not seen him eat yet but I'm not surprised. I've yet to see my Irwini eat and I've had him since May.

im in the UK so im not sure on your prices , 11" would be at least £60 in UK so I reckon you got a steal there ;):)
You'll definitely see your Niger eat lots more than the irwini , ive found irwini slow growers and really shy at feeding untill they get to big to hide :D

Looking good! Mine is pushing close to 24", he never hides really, only early morning in the corner of the tank! Also I must say I buy the 2.2 pound bags of massivors, and I would day 2/3 of those bags go to him! Keep us posted please!uploadfromtaptalk1419434826613.jpg

Here's another pic. I'm guessing he'll come out more as he grows? I've yet to see him swim around like everyone's pictures and all of the youtube videos. He's clearly hungry as he eats any pellets that happen to drift under the driftwood where he hides, but he's still being to shy to come out and get them.
