Keeping Bowfins

Have any of you guys ever kept Bowfins (amia calva) before? Thinking about trying it but I need some advice. Do I need any kind of aerator/air pump to keep the water oxygenated or is it true these fish can gulp air directly from the surface? What kinds of things should I feed them? Do they need live fish or can I give them dry fish food/meal ect. Can you keep more then one in a tank if they are around the same size (can't swallow each other) or will they fight and kill each other? Are they suitable for any kind of pond/water garden setup. Any advice would be helpful, thanks?
