i did not relies till i got home that the melafix was for marine (salt water)
do i need to return the melafix marine or will it be ok for freshwater use?
i can't seem to find an answer yes or no online.

Yes it is safe. I think the only differance is freshwater Melafix is 1% Melaleuca oil and the Melafix Marine is 1.25% otherwise they are the same thing. Check your bottle to see.

Yup I've done it before with no issues. The regular works in saltwater too.

you are correct, it is 1.25% melaleuca for the marine.

at 4x the treatable amount and not even double the price of the smaller bottle, it was the better deal. just dident notice it said marine till i got home.

thanks for the heads up.

How often/how much melafix dosing is safe for a freshwater 75 gal community cichlid tank? Just curious, I have a green terror with slight fin damage. Haven't dosed any chemicals in the tank within the past 6 weeks, running two emperor 400 filters. I'm told the more anti-chemical the tank is, the better.
Thanks -Mike
