The questions is about pressure/flow. In particular flow through a moving bed filter; container/bottle. Specifically the placement for the holes of the water intake and exit parts of the filter. I was wondering which scenario would be most optimal at moving the most GPH through said container/bottle:

A. Drilling many holes at the bottom and few at the top
B. Drilling few holes at the bottom and many at the top
C. Drilling same amount of holes in bottom and top
D. It does not matter, the flow will be weak anyways

This filter will be powered by air pump, with air line at bottom of container/bottle.

When answering please state WHY you believe this to be true. :)

Tough question to answer. For pressure you have inside pressure and outside pressure so which one are you going for? For the most pressure of water moving out of the container you would want small holes near the top (very small) think about a permeable membrane. You need a high pressure to push through the membrane as the gaps are very small. For most flow going through the whole unit you would want even size holes on both sides as it will cause an even flow throughout
