Today I was moving my 155g, which is extremely heavy because it is 1/2in glass all around since it is 31in tall. I resealed it maybe 6 months ago and it has been full of water in use since then, but in order to do my DIY plywood build I had to move it across the room. Well in the process, the (already cracked/broken in a couple places) bottom plastic frame started snapping apart and had the be ripped off so we could get it set on the stand and not drop it! So it is now broken in several places, and completely useless.

My question is, can I use the tank this way, if I make a plywood bottom that it sits on on top of the stand? My idea is to get a sheet of plywood the size of the bottom of the aquarium, frame in in maybe 1x2s, lay some foam down on top of the plywood, and screw that to the stand. Then we could set the tank in that and it would fit snugly, have the support of the plywood and cushioning of the foam. Would that work?
