I am getting a new fire eel and I was wondering what I should give it for hiding places. I know people use plc tubes a lot, but I don't think they look very good and wanted something that would look better and more natural. The tank will have fake plants, and maybe some driftwood. Could large, hollow cichlid stones work, I think they would work okay, right?

Why not use a few peices of malaysian dwiftwood? eels are pretty resourceful and if you provide some sort of cover they will definately put it to good use. Mine use to burrow in the gravel bed.

Mine dug itself a cave under some rock formations. I think having a sand bottom is more important, as mentioned above they will make their own hiding spots.
