We have been in the process of moving for a few weeks now and last week was my chance to move my fish since it was in the 50's. Only thing was I needed to find something to put them all in, at once. I looked at the Rubbermaid's from Tractor Supply but all were too small and expensive. I got the idea about a pool but it's the wrong time of the year for pools. Just so happened that Wal-Mart had two pools left over from last year in Lawn and Garden for $89, its 1600 gallons 12 foot x 30" tall. So this was the perfect fit. I set it up that day in about an hour, filled it up with water from the outside faucet and water heater, tossed in three 500 watt heaters and 3 filters, waited a day and put all the fish in. They will be in there a week tomorrow, no deaths which is surprising because I have the Umbee in there too but he seems to be a big baby in there, always hiding behind the log.

Found out last week the 500 wont fit down the top of the stairs :( so now it's sitting in the garage for sale, it's killing me letting it go but have nowhere to put it.

Here are some photos:

And my new Black Shark

Yea I wish, the money I get will be put towards two or three more 200 gallon + tanks. If the 265 goes down this weekend, I will do my best to get 2 or 3, if not then there are a lot of 220 on CL right now. I told my GF I'd sell all my tanks if we can keep the pool and turn it into a pond, make it look really nice with plants, etc. but she didn't like that idea :)

Is your cement pad cool? I would imagine it's leeching heat from your pool. Maybe stick some styroam insulation under it next time if you can? Would help save heaps on heating costs I bet.

The water temps started off at 47 degrees, the next day with one heater it was 60, then I added another heater and it went to 77, I took all but one heater off, had three but it was tripping the breaker. Now it stays at 71 degrees with the one 500 watt heater. This is a temp solution, the tanks will be brought down this weekend and hopefully by Monday I can start stocking them or Sunday night.

I'm impressed with the temp staying 71 with one heater with all that open water

The day I put up the pool, we had no insulation in the basement, the next day insulation was installed and it got very humid so I'm sure that helped as well. There was also a vent above the pool that I had opened the next day, not sure how much it helped thou.

Finally have all the fish back in their tanks. I have a 265 and 220 coming to me soon so these will be spread out over 4 tanks. Did lose a few fish, my Umbee, Salvini and 2 Hoplo's.

I picked up a new Aro and Red Devil.

Video will be posted tomorrow morning.

I see you like those sun spot cats! Can't blame you they are nice cats. Yours are a lot more active than mine.
