Hikari Massivore and/or Hikari Food Sticks, along with a good variety of fresh foods like market shrimp, fish fillets/whole fish, etc.

pretty sure no one else has said massivore yet
i also use the hikari jumbo carni sticks for my top water fish (arowana and peacock bass), and for other non-dry foods that provide good growth i like beef heart, tilapia and market shrimp or scallops

The best food is always the food that is most appropriate to the fish. Since all large fish are not the same, you'd have to look at each species in it's own right. I would not feed a pacu like a RTC, or a panaque like a fire eel, or a giraffe catfish like an aro.

Good quality pellets are not bad to provide some of the nutrition to large fish, but again, I wouldn't rely upon it exclusively.
