Hypselecara temporalis/ Chocolate Cichlids guarding eggs

This is the first spawn for my "back up" pair of Chocolates. This species definitely shows a preference for spawning on vertical surfaces, especially filter in take tubes. Could it be the darker color that attracts them? Please play on HD (1080p) and full screen for best viewing.

Beautiful specimens as always. Thanks for sharing.

My thought on the laying eggs on the tubing is perhaps they like using that surface since they are able to clean it as thoroughly as they like so the eggs stick and stay clean and well aerated.

I just picked up one of these guys last week. Still very small only about two inches but holding its own in a large community and eating vigorously. They are like a mix between an Oscar a psittacus and a Severum.
