Planning for a 180G tank, will be using a sump, so holes will be drilled into the bottom for the water going into the sump. the tank will be flush on the side walls, so no space for the return pipe outside of the tank, will it be ok to drill another hole on the other side for the Return pipe ?

Is there a table/chart where i can see how much water can flow down say a 1,2,3... inch pipe ?

Food for thought...have you considered an overflow (on one end of the tank or across the back) where you can have both your drains and returns? This way, everything is essentially covered and you don't see most of the plumbing in the tank? You may lose a little volume, but everything is still inside the thank and down to your sump.
