15 inch tiger shovel nose/redtail X with cichlids in 300gal?

Is it ok to put my 15 inch redtail-shovel nose cross into my new 300 gal cichlid tank? My smallest fish are two silver dollars that are still 6 to 7 inches long. I also have other cichlids with the smallest being about 8 inches. The catfish's mouth (approx. 2.5 inches) quite simply is not large enough to eat any of my cichlids the way I see it but I'm always open to good advice or hearing other peoples experiences.
