Is there any substitute for the bushing on a ceramic shaft of a return pump? It seems insane to pay $30 dollars for a piece of rubber/plastic the size of the head of a nail. I need this for a quiet one 4000 seems like I'm almost better off just buying a new pump at this point unless theres some kind of diy bushing i can rig up to make this thing quiet.

It's not ideal, but I've gone to the hardware store and bought a piece of 1/8" (3mm) ID vinyl Tubing and slid it over the shaft and enlarged the recess in the impeller cover with a drill bit to fit the tiny stub of tubing.

I did that on a pond pump and an old fluval 104, not something I'd do on a brand new pump, but for some old piece of junk it plugged the gap.

Try at your own risk.

:edit: this is coming from the weirdo that did this hahaha
