Hey guys. I'll be using this thread to detail the set up of my new 300g tank. Its 72 x 36 x 26. I am fill testing it tonight. All the components are ready, I just need to decide on a stand build, and figure out how to plumb my sump.

Filling starts when I get home. I'll post more detailed pics then, and talk a bit about the stocking plans (outside of my Mainecoon), and set up plans.

A few precautions. I had a professional take a look under my house to make sure it will hold. He said the house is fine to hold this load, especially since I am fill testing on top of a pylon.

This is about as close to even as it gets.CAM04083.jpg
Added plastic shims to ensure the weight is evenly distributed.

Still on pins and needles.

60% !!! No leaks!

Keen eyes might have noticed my profile picture in one of these shots ;)

She holds! Hopefully nothing changes in the next 24 hours!

This tank is sturdy! It was built for commercial use. It took eight people to get it inside, and that was still a challenge! I'm on cloud nine right now! Cant wait to aquascape this beast!

Only one concern:

Can't tell if these are bubbles or... Hmm... Should I be worried about these? They are on both sides, right up against the bulkheads.

Thanks man. I convinced my girlfriend to let me keep the 180g up and running as well! Really excited about that. She was against the 300 until it was sitting in the driveway. Now she wants her picture taken in it :p

I'll update with a stock list when I get home!

Planned stock list, starting with my existing stock:

Polypterus Congicus 13"
CAM03985.jpg
Polypterus Endlicheri Endlicheri "black Volta" 9"
CAM04046.jpg
Polypterus Lapradei Bichir sp. "Faranah" 11"
CAM03666-1.jpg
Polypterus Senegalus (9 years old!) 11"
CAM03619.jpg
2 Polypterus Ornatipinnis (old photo) now 9 and 10"
CAM02819.jpg
2 Florida Gar 11" and 13.5"
CAM03771.jpg
Not pictured:
3, 5.5" clown loaches

Future additions:

1-2 giraffe catfish
1 Black arowana
1 Polypterus Bichir Bichir
1 Polypterus Ansorgii or Dabola
1 Polypterus Lapradei Bichir sp. "Koliba"

(Potentially) 1 bowfin

I will be going the planted route once again, and have already planned the aquascape. I am stealing some components from my current scape, including the "stump," large piece of driftwood, and plants.

The 180 will be used to house a few smaller rays, perhaps marble motoros. When I diy my next tank, they will inherit the 300, and my axolotl collection will move into the 180.

No. The 180 came from cl for 400$ with the stand, t5 lights, filters, and a lot more.

The 300 was $600, and came with the tank and plumbing. Ive never seen a tank that was this overbuilt. The thing must weigh 1000 pounds or more. I bought it from an Atlanta reef club member.
