I stopped by the local tractor supply company today to see what I could find to use as a sump for my 300g tank. I found this:

Will this work for a sump? Would it be unsafe for the fish?

Main issue is their rubber ones jump from 50-110g, and the dimensions on the 110g are too big to fit under the stand I'm going to build.

As a salt guy it would never work for me. I once was helping build an addition for a guy that had a natural spring in his front yard that poured into a huge, like 500 gallon one that had a bunch of goldfish in it. I would be worried about leaching but in his case there was a huge constant water change going on.

My thoughts exactly. The dimensions are just so perfect. Can anyone confirm?

Might be able to line it with pond liner fairly decently I imagine.

My LFS has one with a pond liner in it. They use it for housing feeder goldfish.
