Just set this tank up 3 days ago. I have discovered the temperature keeps rising. The only thing on right now is a mag 24 pump. Is this the cause of my temperature rising constantly? I don't know what to do except if it is this pump,I need to get a different one cuz I can't afford a chiller. What should I do?

It's the only thing on in the tank, I've never had this problem before with other types of filters. The tank keeps rising about a degree a day. Yesterday after work it was up to 83.7, I had to put ice in the sump to bring it back down to 81.3, and now it's back up to 82.5. I think I need to get a dc pump like this one http://m.ebay.com/itm/360984264382?nav=SEARCH

The house stays 75 all day? Or is that an average? What is the temp in the tank if you shut the pump off for a day?

With a canopy and a sump completely covered by wood, you don't have a lot of evaporative cooling. Perhaps allowing for better air exchange will help. This can be done with computer fans if you want to keep the stand and canopy closed off in the back. Otherwise just cut a section out in the back like a store-bought stand. Your wood will thank you!

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking it might be because of a lack of air flow. The house stays 75 all year round. That's where we like it here in Arizona. I will try cutting holes tonight and fans on payday.

sui I have had the hood open ask afternoon/night and the tank temp is dropping:) is now only 79.7 so in conclusion, is heading up because there is no air flow in the hood section.
