We just bought a house and are in the process of moving. We got all the day to day essentials moved yesterday. We stayed last night for the first night. We move the tanks on the 14th. I just wanted to make sure my plan is doable. Little info on the 2 tanks.

120g: 4'x2'x2'

FX6 with all sponges and almost a gallon of matrix, Emperor 400 with standard media, XP1 with matrix and those star thingies feeding a 36w TurboTwist.

3 Geo Winemilleri 3"
5 Geo Balzani 2-3"
1 med sized clown loach 4"
1 baby flagtail 4"
2 baby BN's. 2-3"

225g 6'x27.5"x27.5"

Standard 75g sump with over a gallon of matrix and over 5lbs of rings. 3x100 micron socks.

14" L203
9" L191
6" L190
6" L330
4" L177
4" L128
6x Threadfin Acaras 4-6"
2x Red Hump Geos 3-4"
7" Gold Severum
12" Flagtail
6 BA tetras
6 Blackskirt tetras

The 220 is hard plumbed And glued. So I have to cut all the plumbing out and start over. This will take a day or so including the move. So the plan is to put all the fish into the 120 when I drain the 225. I will leave the filters intact on the 120 plus I'm gonna hang the 2 media bags from my sump in the 120 with my big korilla blowing water across them. Do you see and issues for all those fish for~24hrs in the 120? I have tons of driftwood so Plecos fighting is a non Issue. All the cichlids are laid back. I'm asking strictly from a media/ammonia standpoint.

Opinions? Aaaaaaaaaaaaand discuss!!!

I would keep the fish in the 225 with a seeded sponge filter and heater while you re assemble. I just moved and did roughly the same with my 4' 2' 2'. Shouldnt take more than a few hours, and you wont have to net the guys out of the smaller tank. This time I reassembled everything with fittings. Just in case.

Well I am actually breaking down the 120 and selling it. So catching the fish out of the 120 is a non issue. Plus this would give me the benefit of moving the big fish slowly back to the 225. I don't want to be rushed. My health isn't great right now and I want the easiest way possible

I think hanging bags of seeded media in the tank will give you PLENTY of bio filtration. Way I see it, that's literally what I have for bio filtration in my sump--4 laundry bags with 3 gallons/12 Liters of pond matrix, with a powerhead keeping the water in the sump moving around. I think we all use more bio-media than we need anyway. When I read about people running big tanks with a sponge filter, and those German sponge type filters, gallons of Pond Matrix seems like overkill. :) But, this IS MFK.

Well I got the 225g moved. Its not plumbed yet so the water is below the teeth on the overflow box. In the 225 is my severum and the threadfin acaras. The rest are in my 120g overnight. Tomorrow I'm gonna plumb the sump, move all the rest of the fish over. Then I'm gonna add the FX6 from the 120 to the 225.

So far so good...
