Biggest Red Tail Black Shark

I'm a big fan of red tail black sharks and always wondered what's the biggest size anyone has?! I've seen 7" ones but very very rare! Anyone has any big ones on here?!

My mom had one get to about 5" when her angels decided to breed and it wasn't welcome anymore. There's a lfs in fontana with one I'd put at about 7.5-8" they keep with a knife fish. Lol

I've seen about a 5 inch specimen as well, pretty impressive; must have taken years to grow out though

Apparently reading online it says the 2" ones you usually see in lfs takes around 2 years to reach 5"? Also says males usually get to approx 5" and females approx 6" and rare ones go 7"+

Have you looked at Black Sharks? I.e. Labeo, they are pretty much identical and get massive.

Black sharks are always larger, not surprisedly. That said I saw a 7" rainbow shark last year.

Never seen a RTS over 4 inches. I had a Black Shark that was up to 14 inches before a 12 inch jag/Texas hybrid killed it

I used to have a 5"-6" one, very round belly and nice coloration. I aquired it around 3" and after a year it was about 5"-6"
