Why Are Most Multi Aquarium Systems Set Up With Glass Tanks?

Why are most breeders and multi aquarium set ups using glass tanks? Besides the price of the fish tanks, is there any other reason to go glass vs plexi?

I think the real variable here is availability. Glass tanks are just way more common. When you type in aquarium into kijiji or Craigslist majority are glass. When we were starting our fish room kijiji and Craigslist deals kept the project moving forward lol

Okay, so I guess the answer is Price then. I've always used pexi glass and glass just makes me nervous due to cracks and leaks. I'm going to have some expensive fish in my system so the last thing I want is a leak. I just feel bad about drilling into plexi glass tanks though.
