I just ordered an 252 gallon tank (80 x 26 x28) )with a metal stand using 2 x 2 x 1/4 angle bar, I noticed that the center part of the metal bar is bending due to the weight of the tank, there is no center post as there is another tank at the bottom. Would another 2 x 2 x 1/4 spanning the whole length of the stand welded across be enough to support the weight ?. Water has been reduced to 1/2 to prevent catastrophe

Weld a 2x2 square tubing 3/16" or 1/4" It would have most likely not bowed at all if it was tubing instead of angle.

My hagen built stand is angle iron. I'm willing to bet it's 1/4" as well. It's holding a 135 and it has been like yours since day 1. U can see the gap. It's been almost 3 years it hasn't gotten any worse.

I also had another 135 hagen stand with the same tank using 1" square tubing. It did the same thing. As far as I know from people on here the most important thing is all 4 corners are level and in contact with the stand.
