Ok so I tried just about everything he seems interested and then slowly backs up into his cave again. I tried giving him worms, shrimp pellets, blood worms and brine shrimp and everything, what I found to be is tht he only eats when my room is pitch black and I just throw abunch of pellets around his area and hope tht he eats, he is about 8-10" and I'm just wondering if he will adjust to me feeding him I tried hand feeding him and tht didn't work and I used tongs and tht also didn't work, is it possible for him to starve himself?

They can be difficult feeders in general and can be prone to getting sick fast. Get some live black worms and stick in the substrate near where it's mainly hanging out. It will get used to this and eventually feedings will be easier. Don't starve the eel. Feed at night if need be as you've seen it eating. Better to eat then force it to do something and it gets stressed out. Be patient and make sure your not over feeding and your quality is good.
