Is this combo likely to work? Anyone successfully make this happen? I have a shot at getting a 12" black aro to go with my 2, 10-11" trops and 2 flg in my 300g once it is running. Not interested in losing my trops or sentencing the aro to death whatsoever.

never keep them, but thru what I've learned, the aro will be kill. Tropical gar are just as aggressive as young gator gar.

Thanks for the info, hd. I prefer gars to aros, and wouldn't want to put mine at risk. Im going to add a large datnoid instead. I see this combo everywhere I look it seems. I can hold off on aros for a few years.

I have a 14" "silver" morph FL gar with a 23" black aro and never had any issues. I see np in that combo as long as they have enough space to swim around.

Issue is that trips are more aggressive than flg's. I'm on the fence on this one. I can get a great deal at the moment locally. Bleh.

Wouldn't get the aro, trops will probably at least nip at all the time, so it'll be freaked out in the tank. My RTG was like that with my trops.

I kept 3 monster trops and two floridas with my aros with no problems. I still have one trop and 2 floridas with 2 big aros presently and still no problems

Tough call. I think 4 gars, a large dat, and an aro might be a bit cramped in a 300. I might wait it out.
