I've had this lap for close to a month now and I have seen no progress in this. My LFS had him for a solid 4-5 months before i finally felt bad and got him. His tail/fin has been like this since the first time ive saw him. I have not noticed any growth (length or girth) in the month I've owned him also. Im feeding him tilapia, salmon, krill, and massivore. Could his growth be stunted?

it will grow back eventually. when i got my congicus in his fins were shredded and the tail was nipped down almost to his body. i had a sen with a completley missing pectoral fin as well. both took at least a month to fully heal. i also did more frequent water changes and added aquarium salt.

Its probably will grow back unless its nature birth defected, another thing if I noticed a fish that in same tank at LFS for months then I don't buy it, especially if a fish capable to grow 1 inch per month and after months in tiny tank at LFS and its size pretty much same as few months ago.

+1 Salt and pristine water can do wonders. 0.1%-0.2% concentration is what I used in my community tanks for fin damage, so one-two TSP/Gallon. The frequent water changes will promote growth and the salt should cause some accelerated healing.

Even if stunted it should still grow .... Just won't hit the size it should .... My 14" Nigerian is wc bought it at 13" had it for one year now ... Only put on a inch and virtually almost no weight at all he almost as long as my other bigger ones but way way skinnier than the others ... Idk y he was only at the store for like 2 days whn I got him .... Just naturally skinny I guess?
