I'm wrestling with how to light my tank. 6'x6'x2' footprint. I want to run 2 6' led fixtures but i don't know if I should run the 10,000k or the 6,500k fixture. What are some of you running on your tanks? Both fixtures are 8400 lumen, the 10k has the actinic lights. Which would make my fish look best and brighten the tank most? Not going to run the lights all the time. How do some of you show off your fish? Open to other options as well. Currently I'm running 2-4' shop lights with 8000k fluorescents.

How do you like the 8000k? I've got 10000k over my ray tank and like it. There is 5500k over another with plants. The 10000 is whiter, looks better ime.

They do ok. First problem is that they are only 4', second is the fluorescent has a 360 light emission. The led I think will light better for the simple fact it has a 180 light emission. The 2 t-8's are a combined 5400 lumen where as the led unit is 8400 and is a 6' unit. I also have discus so in would assume the bright 10k would really make them sparkle. Here are a couple recent pics. Tank has been running for a month now, still has som tannins releasing into the water.

I think the 10000 will look nice. Great looking setup you have. What are the rays?

I am wanting to go to led have not yet. I did just get a cheap spot light for a temp holding tank and used a full spectrum Florescents compact twist I was amazed how much brighter it was than my t5's and seems whiter too. I think with your foot print I would look at a few spot light of some kind that way you could have options on there position instead of just straight across. Good luck awesome tank btw
