Was looking to breed a motoro Ray with a retic Ray.. Retic is a female and around 2 years old and motoro is young still

Funny I just attended a lecture about S American freshwater rays.
One point the lecturer (Jennifer Reynolds specialist in rays of the Vancouver Aquarium)made was that cross breeding rays, was generally bad for them.
She said they were finding internal problems that lead to diseases in rays when cross bred.
She also recommended nothing smaller than a 300 gal enclosure for even the smallest rays.

Interesting....

This would refute "hybrid vigor" wouldn't it? I could see some extreme crosses resulting in harmful abnormalities but others could be hlepful to the species, especially for "domesticated, captive" fish.
