I have been wanting to finish my 3 tier stack of cages for awhile now. Luckily, the bottom on is complete and I was able to add my Anery boa to it. Cage is 48x30x24 tall. I was not happy with manufacturers making cages only 24" wide so this is why I made it myself. Heated by a 120watt, RBI heat panel and a 13watt CFL for lighting. I will hapily answer any questions, snake is roughly 4.5 feet long.

Very nice Z trip, you do nice work....

what do you use on the inside walls, and under the substrate of your cages to prevent the the moisture from getting into the wood?

Thanks Edwardo

First I get the plywood I want for the bottom, I used the cheapest. As you can see it does not matter as I cover it with linoleum flooring. Rolling pin is to help flatten the flooring and get out any air bubbles. I then trim the extra flooring hanging off the wood.

The sides and back of the cage are always done first. Panels of wood are caulked and screwed together. The edge of the wood is heavily caulked then the bottom is placed on it and screwed. I use a screw every 4".

Once together I smear the caulk in all the joints, adding where I find required. When painting, I paint onto the floor a good 3-4 inches to cover everything. I use Behr, exterior, semi gloss pain and primer in one. Not sure if its the best but it has worked for me for years. It is pricey however.
