When I was feeding my ray I noticed that the area around his gills was getting red and irritated.
The substrate is a very thin layer of sand. I have a big piece of driftwood with some anubias tied to it. The only tankmate is a 6" cichla pinima. The ray is an 8" (disc) male marble motoro. The tank is a 120. Its filtered by 5 rena xp3s. The params are: ammonia 0.1 (I did a 50% water change and its back to 0), nitrite is 0, nitrate is barely 5 ppm, ph is 7.2 (it consistently stays at that), and the temperature is 78 degrees. I feed him krill and shrimp every day. He's acting completely normal and he ate just as aggressively and just as much as he always has. The next time I see him swim up the glass, I'll snap a pic but normally after he eats, he sits around for a little bit so I might not have the pic until later today.
