Hi,

one month ago i bought a fat and healthy wc ansorgii pair about 22 inches long.
They havent eat anything till today.
How long can they last without food ?
Any ideas what i should try ?
They live in my 380 Gallon tank with a gold arowana, fire eel, irwini catfishes, trachycorystes trachycorystes, marbled motoro pair and some heros severus.
The temperatur is about 28 degrees.
I tryed so far shrimps , live worms, smelt, pellets .
Any ideas what to do ?

Had that same problem. My new poly wasn't eating four weeks straight. My last resort was feeders. I finally bought some, threw a couple in the tank and she went for them crazy. After 2-3 days they started eating shrimp and tilapia. That's just in my experience. Worked on a couple of my polys. I hope you get them eating as soon as possible!

Bichirs can survive without food for months, but after reaching 1 month without food I would get a little worried.
Are they stressed? Could some of the tankmates be stressing them, thus causing them not to eat?

Giant, wild caught fish...its not uncommon for them to come off of feed for weeks, even months. Don't worry too much about it.

Thanks for the replies.
The old owner said too i should not be worried about it, they need time.
They dont get stressed from any fish in my tank.
I had caught a few fish out of my tank in the last weeks to sell them and i had to remove a few pieces of wood in the tank for that.
Maybe that was a stress factor .
I dont want to feed feeders to my fishes.

Yeah, don't use feeders.
