Still way short of whts reqd considering the length of 72"

I've been looking at a bunch of those charts that show thickness dependant on height vs length and they all seem to say 6mm is good up to 72x18"

I've also done many thickness calculators and came back with 6mm

my 84x34x24 is 10mm glass, the base is 10mm with a second bottom layer of 10mm sat inside the side panels.

According to most aquarium glass calculators, 8mm should be fine for the size tank you plan on building.
Well i just got a call from the seller and it's actually 6mm.

That sucks.

I will attempt to build it 72x48x12, I'll only have bichirs and a few other fish in it so hopefully that'll be fine

At 72in long and 48in wide I wouldn't attempt even a 12in high tank in 6mm glass. Wit that kind of volume, 10mm glass would be my choice.
