Hey guys
This morning when I was walking up to the tank to feed my male marble motoro was hiding in the back buried and was refusing food. He's normally a very agressive eater and always swims up to the top of the tank to steal the peacock bass's food. Today he wasnt doing any of that. Then I saw were the barb was, there was a big bloody patch. I turned the lights off so he wouldnt be as stressed.
The water params are nitrite and amonia 0 ppm, nitrate 5 ppm, and ph is 7.2
The tank is a 120 with 2 rays and the peacock bass. The only decorations in the tank are a piece of driftwood and a clay pot.
Should I put in some medication, if so what kind?
Will he pull through?
I'll try to get a picture.
Thanks

Did you actually see the barb get bit off? The barb most likely got broken off if he was startled and darted in the night. Definitely add some salt. It should heal no problem. Dont be suprised if he doesn't eat for awhile. A few days or more.

Where is the barb. Are you sure it didnt get ripped off after stabbing a tankmate? Any tankmates with wounds?

Yah, it didnt get bitten off. I found it burried in the sand. How much salt should I put in? The tank is a 120 + about 15 gallons worth of canister filters
Thanks

I run 2 - 2.5 cups per 100 gallon. I am interested to hear what rate others would run though as well.
