Hey, I am asking the same question as I asked in the arowana section , only this is relating to gars. I may be getting a 180 gallon aquarium and I would like to know if any species of gar can be held in there for life. I know alligator gars can't, but what about a florida gar, tropical gar, or a spotted gar? Would I be able to put any fish in there with them, or would the gar require the whole 180 gallons? Thanks for any help! :)

I keep reading that oddball keeps suggesting tropical gars to be best suited for home aquaria but still require a large home.. I forget what he said the length the Fish attains.. but anywho...

I would not think it would require the whole tank.. Like a full Grown Dovii.. But I would probably ask oddball.. He has the inof you are looking for :)

i would say a tropic would be your best bet? i am assuming your 180 is 2' wide? it would be able to live in there for quite a while, but im not sure for life.
