Heres some recent pics of my RTC and TSN. They are both gonna be a year old in august. Both started out as 2" cuties and raised together their whole life. The TSN is about 17" and the RTC about 16". I've noticed that this RTC has developed a yellowish body color compared to the even creme of my other ones, I have no idea why. I started feeding them crayfish lately, I wonder if that has anything to do with it ?????.

shrimp and crayfish will give catfish that cream yellow or orange color. My hybrid channels are both a nice darkish yellow almost orange, and I never noticed till I rescued the new one I have and it's solid white lol. I've been feeding him shrimp and now he's turning yellow too. My rtc x tsn also has this tinting in his belly, and my little 7" rtc has it also. I think it's cool. Beautiful cats by the way.

Hahaha ok well I would be totally fine with 4'. Five MAYBE haha. But I know that if I do get it I will love it enough to do anything to house it correctly....

Yeah it's amazing reading posts here, and going to planet catfish to read up on their forums. You get like instantly bashed for even thinking about keep a rtc or tsn or any fish that gets to more than 2'. I am like if you really want that fish and know what it means that you are going to possibly have in 5 or ten years from now, then go for it. You'd be suprised at the sacrafices people are willing to make for these pets. I know have spent more on my fish than I have on myself in the past 3 years. All to keep them alive an healthy. I'd be very sad if anything happens to my fish. I've had to deal with a couple losses this year, and it hurts but you live and learn. I know now that if you are renting you are probably not in the best position to keep fish on this scale, and that's why I had to get a place of my own. Only problem there is the fact that I pay more for bills now than before and I can't afford to do everything for my fish that I would like to, but I keep finding cheaper and cheaper ways to do the things I love on the scale that I like. So to everyone, if you think you can do it, prove it, if not then leave it to those of us who are willing and able. I know if my broke a$$ can keep these kind of fish, than probably just about anyone can lol. So good luck to anyone who wants to keep any of these amazing fish.

It seems no one has posted here for a while, but I have a question... I am building an aquarium with the dimensions of 8ft long, 3ft wide, and 2 ft tall. The tank will house three black arowanas and one silver arowana. I was wondering how long would an RTC be able to live with the aro's in the 375 gallon tank? I am getting the black aro's at 10 inches and the silver aro at 9 inches as the blacks will grow slower then the silver and I want them to be a tad larger. So what size and how long could an RTC live in a tank with 4 arowanas with a width of 3ft?
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

You would be fine for 2-3 years depending on the growth of the individual rtc that you get. I've seen some hit 3' in less than 3 years. I don't really know the growth rate of aros, but I do know that several members had rtc that were shorter than their aros and they ended up getting ate by the aros. Just a caution you are going to need to feed the rtc very well so that he doesn't view the aros as lunch!

hmm i was watching people going around fishing for tsn and rtc and theres some question i wanted to ask for sometime now here it goes.
i see people catching then bring them up on the boat and take measurements and weight but what i want to know is what actually happens after that?(i have been thinking wildly if they ate the rtc LOL! )
