HI i have 2 RTC (about three feet each), 2 TSN (about two feet each) and 2 clown knifefish (about 2.5 feet each) all in a pond. they have been eating huge reject carps for basically all their lives that i buy wholesale from a supplier in malaysia but im trying to cut down on live food due to risk of disease, convinience and cruelty (cause my mum is buddhist :s) i tried to train them to eat dead fish meat and pellets in the past but only the RTC would eat them cause they r pigs. the TSN and knifefish are so fussy and simply refused to eat for three months! i gave in and fed them live food again. does anybody have an effective method to train adult carnivours???

hmm...I have a question...you might know Necro...what are the primary baits used to catch TSN?? There is a local canal system where I spotted 2 LARGE ones...one was basically 3 ft...the other was a bit larger a few inches or so...but MUCH thicker.. I went to this spot day every day for about 2 weeks..and they were there...tried filets, shiners, chunks of fish, fresh chunks of Uro's, ....didnt even look at it...seems they were coming here to chill /sleep on the bank...havent seen them since...I figured my only chance will be with a cast net...? Chad (Owner of AP) snagged one by luck but his tackle was too light for these guys... heres a pic I got, not the best..and definitely doesnt do it justice...

Try using a lure. Where are you located? I think locals use Ps, and on all the fishing videos I have watched they use eels, or other thin fish. Try a worm. I would thread it like you do for bass. Leave the tail hanging below and when he bites it set the hook. Are you in the USA?

After much research I can say with certainty that there are a lot of rtc that have boney fin rays growing from their adipose fins. Most look as if they had fin and tail rot at one point or another in their lives. I say that more than likely when these fish develope this desiese it triggers rapid growth of the fins and the brain sends out signals that tells it to produce more fins. Thus when when the adipose fin grows back the signals do not differientiate between cartilage and bone. It's simply and signal for fin growth and not fin type!
