What would be considered a reasonable price for an L204? My LFS had some a while ago for $50 a piece, and I rather liked them but never picked one up because my LFS tends to overprice some of their plecos, in my opinion. Now they're all gone and I've been hunting around for some. Any thoughts?

That would be steep over here. Not surea about over in the US, but this time last year, miles had them up for 20$ a piece.

I paid $20 each for mine but they were only about 2.5 inches when I got them. Size matters where pricing is concerned.

but they aren't the biggest of plecs, so you shouldn't see a dramatic increase.

True but it takes about a year just to get one inch of growth on them depending on how old they are in the first place. I would be happy to pay $40 for a 5" L204 but would only want to spend about half that for a 2.5" specimen. Guess it all depends on a buyers preference combined with availability.

Well if you want a quick breeding project, you've got no choice... if waiting is an option then great. I suppose you could justify it by the water changes and food you spend on keeping it until it grows to maturity.

Good point. Makes me wonder how much money will have gone to the electric company before I see a clutch of eggs too!
