Open Mouths

i have two thin bars (4 inch) that arent closing there mouths. i check with my lfs and they said thats what they do before they died. i did a water change and and checked the ph and ammonia levels and everything looks fines. ive tried and look up everything but still they look unhealthy. Can anyone please tell me how to save my fish?:confused:

did you just feed them? they might both have food in their mouths. my cichlids sometimes cant close their mouths after a meal

Yes it could be this or have they got lockjaw? I know that lion fish can get lock jaw when they go into a feeding frenzy. I know dats could do the same with there prawns, lance fish etc....

I never heard of Datnoid having lock jaw,
but wangstar makes a good point. After My dats eat there mouth usually stays open for a while after.

how open is the mouth? fully extended? or it just has like 1-2 cm opening? if its the latter then its normal.
