What kind of Bagarius Cat is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want to say B. bagarius, but i can't really tell from the pics you posted. the pattern is very similar on both. I would need to see a good sid shot to give a better guess. I'd say it's between b. bagarius and b. yarelli, leaning more towards bagarius.

Yeh il go with B bagarius too:grinyes:

I think a better question is how do you tell the difference between the two B. yarelli and B. bagarius? Other than the fact that the B yarelli gets 10x bigger.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! at that size who knows.

I'de say bagarius too, I just picked up one at wes's store 7-31-06. And might I say it is doing just fine. It's in with a P.Dovii, a Syn.cat, a P.Red Zebra, everything is between 2"half-3"es. Now I need some pics!

If it is a yarrelli you will know within a month as they are very rapid growers compared to b.bagarius.....when I had smaller specimens of bagarius the yarrelli grew noticably, but the b.bagairius didnt seem to even gain any size even after 2-3 months. my current yarrelli is huge and no signs of slowing down...he is approx 18" or so and approx 4 fingers wide. At a young age there is a near impossible task at distinguishing the two as they are pretty much identical other than the yarrelli showing more aggression and being a bit more active than a b. bagarius which are fairly mellow and lazy.
