In my hatchery setup, 2 of the large units would pay for themselves in 2 years from reduced municipal water use.

From Clarity-WTS and available through Koi Enterprises:

so you havent used them?

why does the biofiltration first help the removal of organic compounds? i though the point of protein skimmers was to remove the waste before its broken down into ammonia and needing biofiltration?

if someone shows me a picture of the skimmate and some tank specs and i might take this more seriously.

Interested to see the results.

I have always wanted a skimmer like that. It would help my fish out SOOOO much.

It took you that long to think about the Clarity system??? When I was doing plans on a future giant pond, I went and researched and found out about the Clarity system months ago and seemed impressed. Its a freshwater protein skimmer that supposedly works very well.
We all know how crucial protein skmmers are for reef tanks, but they are also good in freshwater tanks BUT its hard finding a good one for freshwater and this one is one of the good ones!

the dirty foam passes out of a side ejection port.

I never had the need to research another skimmer. I've been using a more traditional 10ft pressurized skimmer for the last 7 years. My current unit costs a ton to run, needs priming after power is lost, and requires frequent cleaning of inner wall sludge buildup (which requires ladders and safety tie-offs) and collection cone/cup buildup.

Interesting....
