Hey guys, I Need some advice and also I would like to know if what am doing is the right thing.

A couples of weeks ago I noticed the fins of my aro being eaten or breaking, I don’t have any other fish with it, my parameters are 0/0/05, I thought that it might be a case of rot fin but am not sure, a couple of days ago I also noticed small holes in the top and sides of the head, the scales of the fish has some markings too, I don’t know what that is but this is what I did

Up the temp to 86F
Salt treatment
Tetracycline from API

A couple of weeks ago I did a melafix treatment with no success

Should I do something else or what am doing with the salt, tetracycline is ok?

I got some pictures but the quality of the camera and the fish moving don’t help

Hmm, looks worrying. Hole in head, torn fins, n damaged scales.
What are the water parameters like?
Raise temp, add O2.

Maybe some experienced aro keepers can comment. :nilly:

Thanks for all the help
no problem,glad we could help
im kidding!!!
sorry :(

i think most are speechless and have no clue what to say
:(

ive never seen this as long as ive been on mfk
:irked:

if water is perfect has something got in the tank? chemicals or stuff
maybe something in your water?
might be a good idea to call water company and ask if they have done anything to the water lately

sounds like you are doing the right thing
i dont know about meds tho
i try to stay away from them
i do heat and salt like you are doing

hope this helps a lil

Wow that looks bad. I've never seen or experienced anything like that. I would start treating with meds for fin rot and external parasites, meanwhile researching on the net.

Good luck, sorry I can't be of more help.

The water condition is very bad. The scales are chipping off. the edges of the scales are raised is the sign of chipp scales starting.

If there's another tank in your house and it have a proper setup, transfer it over and dun use any form of medication. It look as it been burnt by chemical in the water. Did you use water conditioner during water change or have you done too much water replacement.

what have you fed him lately ???
may it be some problem with the food ???
i suggest: do what koji says and change the food, just in case.

Water parameters are perfect but yes i have used water conditioner for water changes and yes i do lots of water changes ,a friend already told me it was too much, like 20-25 a week,

I will put the fish in a small tank for a while

Chemicals i have used for treatment : 1 dose of melafix when the problem started by intructons on the bottle i did water changes 2 weeks ago

4 days ago salt
1 day ago tetracycline
all the products i have used are from API

Food Hikari arowana pelets
Feeders Comet <---maybe source of infection

also quick water changes 10% directly from the hose to the tank and then conditioner < ---maybe that's another killer right there.
