well just like the title says can a 100 to 125 gallon fish tank be able to be in my room upstairs? can the room handle all that weight? im moving into a master bedroom soon and was thinking of getting a 100-125g tank.. that would be nice but would like to know if its ok to do?

thanks

i wouldnt do it, i would go with a 90 gallon at most, but most 110. if you go in your basement and make a bunch of extra bracing of some sort im sure you could make it work and it would be pretty safe.

As long as its a well built house I probably would go for it. Assuming thats a 6x2 tank, you're only looking at ~110 lbs per square foot. Thats probably the biggest i would go without additional bracing, but I'm not a structural engineer lol.

I always had a water bed, never had a problem, plus i humped some huge chics in it, house is still standing, just leans a little.

water is not even 9 pounds a gallon, so lets say its 1,000 pounds spread out over 12 square foot, thats only 100 pounds a square foot.

so yea, id say go for it. id worry more about glass breaking or tank overflowing than the wieight.

thats what im scared of.. im renting out this place its not even mine to begin w/. :( i wouldnt be able to make braces for it either.so 100g is the biggest i can safely get? i would love 125g.. :)

can i just umm put it in a corner and maybe have the stand a little out and the tank a little in to make it a little stiffer? i dunno if i make sense. but any help would be nice.. or ideas to make this as safe as can be.. most likely imma buy a used unit. so im hoping it doesnt leak :(

thanks

Make sure the stand is parallel to the floor joists if you decide to go for it. Also, put it beside a load bearing wall.

whats a load bearing wall.. when i move in ill take pictures and show you guyz and you guyz can tell me where its best to be put.. im also gonna have a weight set in there is it gonna be too much?

because i had a 100g tank before and it leaked during the night and lucky my place had marble floors it was hell to clean up. :(

i dunno if this matters or not but my room is gonna be above the garage..

my old setup that leaked :(
